What do you mean, an instrumental band at FrancoFaune? Well, when the idea of inviting Jean-Paul Groove to the festival was mooted, the band didn't hesitate for long, taking the opportunity to invite a handful of prestigious friends to lend their voices and lyrics to their uncompromising music.
Joining them on stage for a first-ever evening at the VK will be Peet, the "coolest rapper in Belgium", singer Charles, who recently took up French ("Le Marbre"), Julie Rens, half of the explosive duo Juicy, and Pierres, with his moustache and crazy ideas.
Jean-Paul Groove's three musicians (drummer Denis Baeten, guitarist Nils Hilhorst and bassist Jeremy Debuysschere) came to music via jazz, and radically detached themselves from their academic training with tracks at the crossroads of beat and distortion. A punk spirit in a funk body, the trio revive the original spirit of rave with a zeal for the future.
Opening the ball: a rapper with a singular voice, MHO!
MHO goes beyond the codes of hip-hop, drawing on rock and electro to support her personal, powerful and even deeply moving lyrics: she speaks of abuse of trust, toxic relationships and lives to be invented on the bangs of a brutal world. On stage, she's as authentic as she is explosive!
